July 23rd, 2020:

This kid. He had me in tears of admiration & pride today.

This week the kids are participating in vacation Bible camp virtually. As part of VBC, they are raising money to help build wells in Malawi. They learn about it every day from kids in Malawi via video.

One of the VBC activities was to fill buckets and go on a walk while carrying them, much like the kids in Malawi do daily 3-4 miles to get clean water. I wasn’t going to have the kids do it in the 90 degree heat, but Hudson went downstairs and brought up 2 5-gallon buckets on his own, and insisted that we do it.

Oh my heart. The videos show his strength - he would not let me help, his determination - he made it to his goal location & back despite fatigue, and his compassion “I want to feel what it’s like” (for the kids in Malawi).
